Celebrating the difference you make!
Children and adults with cerebral palsy (CP) have shared their stories, photos and videos with Australia about how they’re making a difference in life or how someone else has made a difference to them.
Congratulations to everyone who has participated and shared their story on the ‘You be the difference’ website.
Each state has selected its most inspiring story which you can view on each state page. Woman’s Day will feature one of these entries to conclude the campaign.
Take a look at these stories - every one will inspire and motivate you!

The Centre for Cerebral Palsy
The Centre for Cerebral Palsy was established in 1951 as the Spastic Welfare Association by a group of dedicated families seeking specialised support and services for their children with cerebral palsy (CP). Today, The Centre is a vibrant hub of services providing innovation, support, care and guidance to people with CP and like disabilities.
As a major disability service provider in WA, The Centre employs over 650 staff, and has a volunteer base of 200 people. Our headquarters are at The Sir David Brand Centre in Coolbinia, however we have more than 30 sites, including outreach centres, community homes and respite facilities through WA.
Although we receive both State and Federal Government funding, this funding does not cover all the associated costs of supporting individual and families especially specialised equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers and communications devices.
Over the last few decades new technology has assisted individuals with CP to achieve greater independence and to become more fully integrated into the wider community. However the cost of this new technology is beyond the reach of most families which is why we need the support from the wider community to help fund these items and to give people with CP and like disabilities every opportunity to live as independently as possible and to realise their full potential.
